Dear IMC Members…
Congratulations to our first CGMS Leadership Summer Residency Participants! They will graduate soon with their IMC Montessori Leadership Credential.
As you receive this issue of Montessori Leadership magazine, we will be coming to the close of another summer season. I hope you and your staff have had the opportunity to rest and renew. If you are like most school leaders and teachers, you are already planning for the start of a new school year. Whether your school offers year-round programs or closes over the summer, seasonal transitions present possibilities and hope for what the next season will bring. I find seasonal transitions to be a time for reflecting, reorganizing, and re-visioning.
Many schools are looking toward expansion and will appreciate Tim Seldin’s article about Modular Buildings. You’ll find it helpful if you haven’t considered this option before or want to know more about this practical solution.
Get ready for a lively faculty discussion after reading Christine Lowry’s Montessori: A Model for Inclusive Education? While helping us understand the landscape of inclusive education, Christine leaves us with this quote “We can work toward a peaceful world where everyone belongs.”
Summers are a busy time for Teacher Education Programs. Our IMC affiliated teacher education program, The Center for Guided Montessori Studies (CGMS), hosted over 500 adult learners in various locations throughout the USA.
Our new Leadership Credential Program welcomed thirty school leaders to the NewGate School in Sarasota, FL, where they learned together, laughed a lot, and built lifelong relationships. I was honored to join Montessori leaders Martha Carver, Marc Seldin, Jonathan Wolff, Kitty Bravo, and Tim Seldin in leading the group throughout the week.
The Leadership Credential Program is a candidate for MACTE accreditation. An onsite visit by the MACTE team included observations, interviews, an overview of our online learning platform, administrative practices, and required documentation. We’re looking forward to the next steps in the accreditation process.
IMC is a MACTE Recognized Organization. If you are a graduate of an IMC affiliated Teacher Education Program, you hold an IMC Montessori Credential. We appreciate your requests to connect with other graduates and stay in touch with your cohorts. Watch for more information about IMC Alumni groups.
