As educators, we know that our daily tasks, goals, and overall performance are shaped and evaluated in collaborative communities through peer and supervisory feedback. Feedback can be a powerful tool for growth, so why is it so hard to give feedback and even harder to hear it? People have different ways of making sense of their work and relationships and the feedback they receive. To matter, feedback has to acknowledge that a people on both the giving and the receiving ends will have very different lenses through which they make sense of the world and different capacities to hear and grow.
