Financial aid is defined as a reduction in tuition granted to families who have demonstrated eligibility through an objective assessment of their financial position.
The Financial Aid Committee
The Board of Trustees has established a Financial Aid Committee consisting of three members. The members of the 2011 Financial Aid Committee are:

The Head of School serves as a non-voting advisor to the committee. The committee works within the guidelines established by the Board of Trustees, granting aid up to the total amount approved by the Board for that academic year.
Conditions of Financial Aid
1. All financial aid will be awarded on a one-year at a time basis. Students receiving financial aid are not guaranteed continuation in the following school year, although the Financial Aid Committee shall strive to give them first and careful consideration.
2. The maximum level of financial aid that the Committee may award to any one student may not exceed a maximum of 50% of his or her tuition.
3. Awards of financial aid cover tuition only and do not include any fees for books and materials, special activities, supervision, or transportation.
4. Any awards of financial aid shall be credited to the student’s account. The family may elect any of the school’s three optional payment plans to pay the balance.
5. Once financial aid has been offered and accepted, the student and family shall be treated like any other in the school, with no special expectations nor exemptions from policy. Families receiving financial aid are expected to pay the balance of their accounts on time, according to the payment plan selected.
6. Financial aid will not be renewed in any case where a family receiving aid fails to keep the balance of their account up-to-date.
Applying for Financial Aid.
All applications for financial aid submitted must be received by the Financial Aid Committee on or before April 15th to be considered for the following school year.
Late applications will be considered if funds are still available.
It is the family’s responsibility to ensure that all appropriate forms and supporting documents are submitted by April 15th.
The first step in applying for financial aid is to obtain from the school’s financial aid office the necessary forms to submit to the School Scholarship Service in Princeton, New Jersey, requesting an impartial evaluation of your family’s eligibility for financial aid in the upcoming school year. These forms should be submitted to the School Scholarship Service as soon as possible after January 1.
Applications for financial aid should be mailed to the school’s financial aid office by April 15th. Please be sure to include:
a. a copy of the School Scholarship Service report of your family’s eligibility for financial aid to the school’s financial aid office by April 15th.b. a letter explaining your family’s request for financial aid, along with any information that will assist the committee in considering your application.
c. copies of your family’s current and previous years’ tax returns.
d. letters of recommendation from your child’s teachers regarding his or her academic progress, social and emotional development, and contribution to the school.
Information submitted to the Financial Aid Committee will remain strictly confidential.
Priorities in considering applications for financial aid Special consideration is normally given to:
• Families who already have two or more children enrolled in the school
• Children of faculty and staff members
• Families who have been with the school for more than five years
In all cases, careful consideration will be given to any special contributions the student or family has made to the life of the school.
