Runny Babbit
By Shel Silverstein

Runny Babbit is a poetry book written and illustrated by Shel Silverstein. The special thing about this book is Runny Babbit talk. Runny Babbit talk is where you switch the first letters of two words, so instead of saying purple hat, you’d say hurple pat.

This book of poetry is different than any other, because of Runny Babbit talk. The characters’ names are in Runny Babbit talk just like some of the words in the poems. The main characters names are Millie Woose, Snerry Jake, Runny Babbit, Skertie Gunk, Goctor Doose, Toe Jurtle and Bumping Jean.

Each poem is accompanied by a simple funny illustration. The dialogue in the illustrations is funny to read and makes the poems the silly dilly poems we know and love. I believe the age group this book would be best for is four to seven, but it’s good for anyone that enjoys Shel Silverstein’s poems.
