Stuck
By Oliver Jeffers

This is quite a silly story that I think elementary-age children would really enjoy.

Floyd’s day started out with his kite getting stuck in a tree. Floyd has an idea for getting the kite down by throwing his favorite shoe into the tree to knock it down. Well, one thing leads to another and another and another. I have to hand it to Floyd. He had a multitude of ideas and they all got stuck in the tree. He was creative and determined.

Children will have fun guessing what outrageous thing he will throw up there next. They will wallow in the ridiculousness of his choices. The illustrations are catchy.

The text looks like a youngster wrote it—a combination of print and cursive. I think some pretty good discussions and lots of fun can be had with this interesting book.
