This story begins with a youngster who is sad about not being invited to a friend’s birthday party, and he begins talking with his very wise grandma about how he feels and what might be going on.
I found Howard to be very aware of the behaviors that were causing his friends to be unwilling to spend time with him. Howard describes these behaviors to his grandmother, and she helps him to see how if the tables were turned, he might be quite unhappy with others in the same way others are with him. Grandmother helps Howard to understand some simple, yet important, lessons for getting along with others:
- We all get to be right;
- We all get a turn; and
- We all get a say.
