In this session we discuss our changing world, how humans adapt, and opportunities for thoughtful communication, specifically related to “Smart Speakers.” Maria Montessori developed a part of the curriculum called Grace and Courtesy. Many schools do not emphasize this aspect of learning as we do in Montessori schools. As Montessori said, “…education should be preparation for life.” Is there such a thing as Grace and Courtesy for Alexa or Siri? As humans evolve and adapt to rapid changes in technology and communication, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on how we can continue to help our children to become respectful, patient, and problem-solvers in this new world of easy to access information on demand.
