In a recent Harvard Business Review article, entitled Learning from the Future, author J. Peter Scobie, suggests, “The best scenario planning embraces a decidedly non-linear conception of time. It treats thinking about the future as an essential component of taking action in the present.” As we inch closer to the halfway point of the school year – a year that continues to be filled with uncertainty, volatility, and risk – Montessori leaders are facing some very tough decisions about programming and staffing amid fluctuating rates of COVID and uncertain enrollment; staffing for the summer program and next school year; budget planning including compensation and tuition increases. How forward-thinking heads are preparing their school communities NOW for the months and years ahead will be the topic of this week’s leadership conversation.
